Hair diagnosis – Hair analysis
Hair loss is a cosmetic problem for both women and men, and is often also felt as a mental strain. A prerequisite for successful treatment is an in-depth examination.
A visual diagnosis alongside targeted questions can usually confirm the reasons for hair loss, whether hereditary Alopecia androgenetica or through scarring. Hair loss as the side-effect of a hormonal imbalance such as the diffuse androgynous alopecia in young women during or after pregnancy, during the menopause or during other hormonal disturbances such as internal illness, environmental or mental pressures, would require further diagnosis.
Questions relating to hair loss focus on duration and amount of loss, type of hair care used, the menstrual cycle and the intake of any medication or hormone treatments. Skin, scalp and hair are examined to establish the type of hair loss, the hair structure and any skin disorders. In addition, there may be a trichogram examination, the measurement of hair density, the hair pulling test, a hormone analysis as well as analyses of the blood, vitamins, trace elements and oxidation status
