Lipoedema
Lipoedema is an abnormal deposition of subcutaneous fat, particularly in the thighs and lower legs, and is characterised by symmetrical enlargement of these parts. Typical locations include the hips, thigh swelling, ‘saddle bags’, fat deposits around the knee as well as fat pads around the knuckles. The feet are not affected.
In lipoedema cases, our initial advice is to practice a lot of sport and exercise, thereafter we can recommend lymph drainage and compression stockings. In advanced stages of the disease, we can also offer advice on liposuction.
