Varicose veins
Further information
Treatment and operation preparation: Obtain timely, comprehensive medical advice and risk awareness, plus a full medical check-up with blood evaluation and ECG. This can of course be carried out here, in-house. These costs will be covered by your health insurance in cases that are medically necessary. In the event of an aesthetic operation, these preparatory sessions must be paid for privately (ca. 100€ to 200€ per session).
Duration of operation: ca. 1.0-1.5 hours
Anaesthesia: General, spinal or tumescent are all possible on request
Staying at the clinic: Usually outpatient. However, a comfortable bedroom is available on request.
Work incapacity: ca. 2 weeks
Social capacity: With compression stockings, just a few days after operation.
Sport: Slow and careful return to sport after 2 weeks.
Sun-bathing and solarium: 6 weeks at the earliest, but ought, in respect of the vein system, be avoided in general.
Sauna: 6 weeks at the earliest, but ought, in respect of the vein system, be avoided in general.
After care: Removal of threads after 8-12 days; compression stocking for 6 weeks; control examination after 3 months.
Special risks: As with all operations, we can never rule out certain risks altogether. A varicose vein operation is, however, a relatively safe procedure. Some occasional complications include healing problems, bruising or temporary sensitivity defects. The likelihood of a thrombosis with this type of operation is under 1%. You will be informed in detail of all risks associated with this operation during your consultations with both the surgeon and anaesthetist.
Cost absorption: Generally covered by health insurance.
