Varicose veins

image

These appear as widely spread, trailing superficial leg veins that have formed because the blood flows into the legs and not toward the heart, due to defective venous valves. This leads to blockages, swelling and often pain. Untreated varicose veins can result in vein inflammation and, in worst case scenarios, to thromboses and ulcerated legs.

Following an in-depth meeting with your doctor, your vein function will be tested by way of a complex examination. With the aid of coloured blood flow, the vessels are shown on an ultrasound picture. These examinations are completely painless, safe and routine.  Should defective venous valves be diagnosed, the surgical treatment (with the so called ‘stripping’ method) will be performed on the veins – in-house on an outpatient basis. Patients can also stay overnight in our clinic, should they so wish.
